Project Summary
This 225,785 SF facility is two and three stories in height and also includes parking areas and drive aisles, infiltration basins, geothermal wells and other infrastructure components. The new school is a steel frame design, CMU walls with exterior brick veneer with a first level slab-on-grade.
The structure is supported on shallow foundations with a slab-on-grade. Ground improvements in the form of undercut of unsuitable fill soils and replacement with compacted structural fill were required throughout the site. The subgrade soils were relatively firm, thus pavement area improvements were kept to a minimum.
This project was designed to receive LEED Gold certification and aims to achieve ultra-low energy consumption through a variety of initiatives such as site placement, building forms, tight envelope, daylighting and an advanced hybrid HVAC.
