Project Summary
Project included a three-story, 154,000 SF classroom and office building to preplace the original 1952 facility. Building includes the following schools and departments: Math, Mass Communications and Journalism, Business, Liberal Arts (Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, History and Interdisciplinary Studies), Social Work, Honors College, and the Title III offices. The building houses office suites for the above-mentioned schools as well as a variety of flexible classrooms, distance learning classrooms, computer labs, observation classrooms, meeting rooms, study areas, student lounges, audio and video editing suites, TV studio, a studio theater, and proscenium theater that seats 368.
During the project design phase, GET Solutions, Inc. conducted a comprehensive subsurface exploration and engineering program which included evaluations of various foundation types, bearing capacity, settlement magnitudes and pavement design.
During the construction phase, GET Solutions, Inc. continued its role as the Project Geotechnical Engineer and Agent #2 Special Inspector. Our role included material submittal review along with monitoring earthwork, foundation, concrete, masonry and structural steel and fireproofing construction activities throughout the duration of the project.
